Meet Photo ID.
Identify plants and wildlife. Learn what they support. Keep track of what you find.
Photo ID is available in the Wildr Places mobile app. Open it on your phone, tap the yellow +, and choose Identify a Plant or Wildlife.
New to Wildr? It’s free.
A butterfly you haven't seen before. A plant you can't quite name. A curious insect visiting your flowers.
Now, when something catches your eye, you can identify it and add it to your Place in just a few taps.
Photo ID is now available in the Wildr Places app, powered by iNaturalist's computer vision technology. It's a simpler way to discover what's around you, learn why it matters, and keep track of the life in your Place.
See it. Identify it. Add it to your Place.
Getting started is easy:

More than a name
Once you’ve identified a plant, Wildr shows whether it’s native to your region and the wildlife it supports, like the butterflies, moths, and specialist native bees in its Wildlife Associates. That’s what makes some plants so valuable to local food webs. A plant you already grow might host caterpillars or feed bees that depend on it.
Found an invasive? Add it to your watchlist to keep tabs on it.
Track the wildlife you actually see
Photograph a butterfly, bee, or bird, identify it, and log the sighting in your Place. Over time you’ll build a personal record of everything you’ve discovered.
Powered by iNaturalist
Photo ID uses computer vision from iNaturalist, trained on millions of photos and identifications shared by its global community.
It’s a great starting point, not a guarantee. Some species look alike, so take a closer look before choosing a match.

You asked. We built it.
You told us you wanted an easier way to identify what you find without switching apps. Photo ID brings it all together, and we’re just getting started.
